Lilacs — Waxahatchee
Waxahatchee’s Saint Cloud (2020) is now my favourite Waxahatchee album.
My Rajneesh — Sufjan Stevens
This is the B-Side to America, that dropped a little over a week ago, but this is a masterpiece. It’s like Age of Adz meets Illinoise meets Seven Swans (which was my Sufjan gateway drug). So good. Ahh. The essence of Sufjan distilled. I suspect I’m in for a binge of the entire Sufjan Stevens discography soon while I relieve that one magical night that was the Age of Adz concert when I was OMG so close to the stage and just dancing to every song, in full apocalypse mode while balloons and confetti rained down on us amidst all of the psychedelic lighting effects.
For Sure — Future Islands
New Future Islands! I am so excited! Also eminently danceable!
So We Won’t Forget — Khruangbin
From old and not so old favourites, to one of my favourite musical discoveries of 2019-2020. Khruangbin!
El Aprieto — Buscabulla
Another 2020 discovery, the Puerto Rican duo Buscabulla. I’ve danced a lot to this album this year.
circle the drain — Soccer Mommy
Soccer Mommy’s Colour Theory is now one of my favourite albums of 2020. Check it out! She also has a Covid-19 relief fund special project on her bandcamp.
